– The Aluminum Association expressed appreciation for the United States and Chinese Governments’ joint commitment to address aluminum overcapacity during their bilateral meeting on the margins of the recent G-20 meeting in Hangzhou, China. A statement following the talks included a commitment for the countries to “work together to address the global electrolytic aluminum excess capacity.”

“The ongoing issue of overcapacity is bad for U.S. and Chinese producers -- it is imperative that our two countries continue to work together to find solutions,” said Heidi Brock, President & CEO of the Aluminum Association. “We appreciate the continued efforts at the most senior levels of the U.S. government to pursue a bilateral agreement on overcapacity. While this is a positive step forward much work remains to be done.”
